Underpass-X Training Cones are designed to help develop the hand skills of hockey players. Use a spare stick and press it down into a set of cones. This makes a bridge under which you can pass a puck or ball to develop your hand-stick-puck-eye coordination.  Designed to break down easily, so you can store them in your bag to be used before games while waiting for your ride, or anytime you feel the urge to train.

 

The Company

 

In September 2019, Jeff Waffensmith a full-time product designer and a part-time youth hockey coach founded Hockey-Dot.com. Jeff’s goal was to create a product that will help hockey players take their stick handling to the next level.

 

The Beginning Of The Underpass-X Training Cones

 

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota – While coaching, Jeff would always be thinking of different ideas for products that would be helpful for a certain drill. Being a product designer, Jeff would make his own contraptions and bring them to practice, seeing how they worked. One, in particular, seemed to have some possibilities to help hockey players with their stick handling and building a business around it – Underpass-X Training Cones.

 

The Production Of The Underpass-X Training Cones & Systems

 

Jeff had seen products and homemade constructions that allowed players to pass the puck around and under an obstacle. Jeff decided to take it a step future with 3D print parts that would make it work better.  It was then that Jeff realized, by molding a simple cone, it could give kids a way to practice their stick handling skills without a ton of investment from their parents.

 

The solution provides an inexpensive platform for hockey players to wedge a hockey stick in PVC tubing or anything else with a similar diameter. As a product designer, Jeff was still not satisfied with the temporary nature of the cone and stick construct.

 

Jeff wanted his training Underpass Training Systems to be used in hard-core practices and built the product line with Gizmo Stick speed humps and faux hockey blades.  The product lines all start with the cones and provides a modular path to build up different configurations depending on the drill or skill to be worked on… More to come!
